Knaresborough make the trip south this weekend to face Worsbrough Bridge after returning to the top of the table after last Saturdays fantastic 5-0 win over Grimsby Borough. Last weekends clash was not the expected tight encounter with two goals in the first five minutes setting us on our way and we never looked back after our great start. Our scorers in the 5-0 win were Brad Walker (2), Dan Thirkell (2) and Rob Youhill. The victory was watched by a brilliant crowd of 242 which was our best attendance this season and they certainly got value for money. It remains extremely tight at the top with our lead over Eclleshill being just one point but we do have two games in hand due to our recent postponements. Our defence was once more very solid last weekend and we were rarely trouble by the Grimsby attack. We have now conceded just 15 goals in 24 league games which is a great team effort and 5 of those were conceded in one game ! It was also our 15th clean sheet which is 6 better than the next best.
Worsbrough have had a tough season and are currently in 19th place with 21 points from their 23 games. They did have a good win at the weekend when they won 3-0 at Bolsover. We defeated Worsbrough 3-1 in August at Manse Lane but they are a much changed team since then and have a new manager in Lee Morris and have made a number of new signings to strengthen their squad.
We will have to be at our best again to remain top of the table as we have seen already this season that there are no easy games in this league.
