Kuils River AFC's (KRAFC) 1st team lived up to their potential over the weekend with some good football culminating in a second place finish in the Northern Suburbs LFA Pre-season tournament. The tournament was hosted at Bishop Lavis Sport Fields and the hosts were also the winners in the final. Bishop Lavis edged KRAFC by 1 goal to nil.
Special mention must undoubtedly go to Cwenga "Doc" Jezile for his 6 goals in the tournament, including a hat-trick against UWC in the round of 16 on Saturday 28 March.

The tournament started with a 1-0 win over Ravensmead A on Friday 27 March, courtesy of a Zane Arnoldus goal. Saturday morning saw some misinformation on the teams side result in a loss on default to Bellstar United, leaving a must win situation in the afternoon game against Blue Downs United. Blue Downs United, one of the union's stronger teams, were then swept aside 3-0 granting the team progression to the Round of 16. Goals from Jezile, Walaza and Shibu showing how well the team were working together.
UWC(3-1, Round of 16), Vahalla United(1-0, Quarter Final) and Bellville United(1-0, Semi Final) were then all defeated with goals by "Doc" setting up the final against Bishop Lavis.
Goalkeeper Juan-Jacques Coetzee commented on Sunday after the final, that although it was a though game, the team is very confident of the coming season. "The players are very focussed and are all ready to do the job".
The club would like to congratulate Coach Patrick Slingers and his team on doing us proud.
