Ladybridge return with the points from Hurst Green

Ladybridge travelled to Hurst Green without Monson, Brom, Coop, Harry, Scott, Mannion, Hough and Joe for the bank holiday weekend clash, this added to Whiteside who is still out with a broken leg left us light on numbers for the game.

Miller, Holt and Huddard came in from the reserves.

Ladybridge started well and took the game to Hurst Green and were unlucky not to take an early lead when Parkinson squared to Smith who got the ball stuck under his feet 5 yards out and his prodded effort was somehow kept out by the Hurst Green keeper.

Hurst green had the advantage of the slope and wind in the first half but it was Bridge who opened the scoring when Thorpe's through ball sent Parky clear and he made no mistake as he slotted the ball home.

The excellent surface was allowing good football to be played and Parky nearly made it 2 with a free kick but this sailed narrowly wide.
Hurst Green started to get into the game and put some pressure on the back four but failed to carve out any clear chances, Ladybridge broke away near the end of the first half and as Parky tried to go past the defender who handled the ball , bridge thought they had a penalty but the ref waved away the protests.

1 nil at HT and the sides came out in the 2nd half with the heavy rain continuing to fall made it very difficult for both teams. with the advantage of the hill and wind Bridge had hoped to push for a second but as the conditions worsened it became more and more difficult to move the ball around.
Ladybridge finally killed the game off with 10 minutes left on the clock when Parky grabbed his 2nd from a free kick right on the edge of the box.

A good display from the lads and a very good result v a good side.

Thanks to Hurst Green for the hospitality, a very friendly club with some great people.
