Lancaster City Captain Sam Bailey commits to Dolly Blues.

Joining brother Charlie, attacking full-back and dead-ball specialist Sam Bailey will once again be part of the Dolly Blues squad in the upcoming NPL Premier Division season.

Named club captain following the departure of Andrew Teague, Sam went on to have another consistent season in 2023/24 as he added 44 appearances across all competitions to his sizeable Lancaster total. Sam found the back of the net six times, including converted penalties against Macclesfield, Gainsborough Trinity, Bradford Park Avenue and Hyde United.

If there’s a set piece anywhere on the pitch, Sam consistently delivers whether it’s a corner with his left foot, a wicked throw-in or a teasing floated ball into the box. Much like brother Charlie, a firm fan-favourite and one that Lancaster fans will be pleased to see back in a Dolly Blues shirt.

Sam spoke to LCFC Media on his connection with the Lancaster supporters; “I’m really happy to be extending my stay at Lancaster, I’ve been here for years now and I’m more motivated than ever to give the club and fans something to smile about. Being asked to captain my home town club means everything and I’m sure myself and the lads will do everything to make you guys proud in the season to come. Up The Dollies!”

Gaffer Chris Willcock celebrated the commitment of the two Bailey Brothers; “Both Charlie and Sam are integral parts of the club, retaining them both was a priority.”

Sam has now played for the Dolly Blues in 286 competitive games and scored 34 goals, including COVID-19 affected fixtures. We’re incredibly pleased to see him push towards 300 appearances in 2024/25.
