Workington:
The Reds endured a tough season in 2023/24 as they finished in 17th place on 44 points. Their points tally allowed them to avoid relegation with a comfortable buffer. Workington had a different approach to pre-season compared to the Dolly Blues as they prepared for life under Mark Fell. The new stewardship would have hoped for a better start to the season as they fell to defeat to Guiseley at Nethermoor Park.

Workington will be hoping for the same result tomorrow as the last time the two sides met at Borough Park. Back in September, Workington secured a 2-1 victory over City courtesy of Steven Ring and David Symington.

Lancaster City:
Chris Willcock got off to a winning start in his first season at the helm of Lancaster City. The Dolly Blues welcomed Basford United to the Giant Axe where despite falling behind twice, secured a 3-2 victory all thanks to Jamie Mellen’s intuitive finish on the goal line. Despite being very early days in the season, Chris Willcock’s side sit third in the table following the last gasp winner.

A handful of players featured in their competitive debuts for Lancaster City. The debutants included Marcus Cusani and Chris Dagnall who were signed early on in pre-season, newest recruit Harrison Beeden was an imposing figure in the back line whilst James McClenaghan made crucial saves to deny Basford United. Dylan Moonan also started for his competitive debut whilst Aaron Flemming featured part way through the second half to put in an inspired performance off the bench. Jack Byrne, Noah Alabi, and Ryan Rogers will all be hoping to feature tomorrow night.
