Stow 3-2 Langholm Legion
Langholm traveled to Stow on Saturday afternoon for an early kick off at the request of the home team. With multiple players missing for a list of reasons, the team could have been forgiven for feeling up against it before the first ball had been kicked.
If this was the case it wasn’t evident as Langholm started strongly, neither team able to play passing football and both utilising the long ball. A lapse in concentration led to Stow scoring after 20 minutes from a throw-in routine on the left flank which should have been defended better by Langholm.
Langholm responded straight away, Cole Hamilton jinked his way into the Stow area before sliding a through ball through to Daniel Winter who couldn’t miss from close range.
It wasn't long before Langholm frustratingly conceded again from a throw-in routine identical to the first. More disappointment was to follow as a long ball over the top left the Stow player through on goal to grab their third just before the break.
Langholm changed things up in the second half with Dean Mallinson dropping from up-front to centre-mid in an attempt to gain control of midfield. Langholm were soon rewarded as Cole Hamilton followed in a shot from range and tapped in a rebound to earn a well-deserved goal.
Langholm continued to apply pressure for the remainder of the second half but despite their best efforts they just couldn’t find an equaliser. Although, Johnson in goals for Langholm had to make some vital stops at times.
The full-time whistle blew to the jubilation of the Stow players. Langholm disappointed not to have earned at least a point after battling for each other for the full 90 minutes.
