Drighlington ...6
Queens ....16
At the Rapid Solicitors Stadium, Belle Vue, Wakefield
Queens landed the BARLA Yorkshire County Cup for the second time in three years, when they beat Drighlington in the much delayed final at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium, Belle Vue,Wakefield this afternoon.
Although falling behind to an early try from Drighlington’s Chris Cowling, to which Michael Sanderson improved, trys from Chris Munden and Jonathon Winter with Jonathon Milner adding the extras to the latter’s score, were just enough to give the reigning National Champions a slender 10 - 6 lead at the interval.
The second half remained scoreless until the 78th minute when a Milner try and goal secured the crown for the North Leeds outfit at 16 - 6.
Drighlington however, didn’t come away empty handed as a magnificant display at full back, earned Drig’s Nathan Larvin the man of the match award.
The Leeds management would like to congratulate both clubs on reaching the final
