Chairman Steve Rutter commented "We would all like to thank Sam for his efforts over the last two seasons as Manager. Being a manager is tough enough but to be a player-manager is another thing. He has done a great job since taking over from Dan and he has really led by example in everything that he has done. A top lad who is very professional and someone who has a genuine love for our club. I was sad to hear he was stepping down but at the same time not surprised as he is doing so well at Crewe. The best bit of news was hearing that he will be staying on as a player next season as he is a big part of the team and he can now concentrate on enjoying his last few years playing."
Rutter also welcomed new Manager Keilan Bond saying "We wanted to move fast once we heard about Sam and we are delighted that Bondy will be joining as new Manager. He is someone all the committee know well, not just from his Ball Haye Green days but over many years. He is someone who knows the league well but also knows all the lads very well. We wish him all the best for the future and all of the committee will be right behind him offering our full support".
