The Club can confirm that Oliver Harrison has left the Blues for an undisclosed fee to join Step 4 Hednesford Town. The transfer was completed on Saturday 12 October, Olly follows Rob Stevenson and Dan Trickett-Smith who signed for the Pitmen over the summer.
Olly has been a fantastic servant to the Club with 195 appearances since he signed for us in April 2019, everyone at Leek Town wishes him the very best for the future.
On his time at Leek Town Olly has asked us to communicate this message to our fan base "After many memorable years at Leek Town, I have come to the decision to pursue an opportunity elsewhere. This hasn't been an easy decision as Leek has been such a massive part of my footballing life. Looking back on my time I cant tell you how proud I am of the achievements Ive been a part of - the promotion last season and two play off semi-finals in three years is something special.
I would like to thank the Club for putting their confidence in me since I signed, and to all the management, and staff who work tirelessly week in week out, to all the players past and present for making the time so enjoyable, and to our terrific supporters for being behind us home and away, travelling up and down the country, this doesn't go unappreciated.
Finally a huge thank you to the volunteers at the Club, myself and all the players greatly appreciate your efforts. I would like to wish Leek Town and it all its supporters every success for the future. I will look back with very fond memories and hope to see you all again soon."
Jon Eeles, Chairman commented "This has been an ongoing saga with Olly for several weeks which has finally come to a conclusion this week. To his credit he has remained professional throughout and has continued to do his very best for the Blues every time he has put on the shirt, which says alot for him as a player and his character.
His contract was due to run out at the end of season, and despite our best efforts he did not want to extend it at this time. Faced with the real possibility that he may move on at the end of the season for no fee we decided to let him talk to Hednesford and establish whether he wanted to pursue that opportunity when they approached us with an offer.
However that could not happen until the expectations on transfer fee had been met, and that's why it has taken a while. Hednesfords initial offers were unsatisfactory and we had to stand firm, which we did, and after several attempts they reached our expectations.
The matter is now concluded this with the transfer being effected on 12 October, Olly moves on with our best wishes and gratitude for all his efforts over the five seasons he has been with us.
Whilst losing a player of this calibre and quality is disappointing, when their head is turned you need to do the best you can for the Club and move on, and Im confident we have done a good job on that. The work has already started on finding a suitable replacement and the Board will be supporting Josh to do that."
