COPA 71 DOCUMENTARY TO BE SHOW AT LEEK TOWN

CLUB CONTINUES SUCCESSFUL COLLABORATION WITH OUTSIDE ARTS

In a continuing celebration of Women & Girls football, OUTSIDE Arts have teamed up with Flatpack Festival and Leek Town to present COPA 71, a film released in 2023.

It is a fascinating documentary told by pioneering women who participated in this extraordinary story of the 1971 Women's Soccer World Cup, a tournament witnessed by record crowds that has been written out of sporting history - until now.

The film will be shown on Friday 20th September at the Clubhouse. From 6pm there will be an open panel discussion about women football and the opportunities available in the game, speakers include:

  • Emma Henderson - Leek Town Ladies - First Team Captain & Player
  • Louise Carr - Leek Town Ladies - First Team Player
  • Brooke Phillips - Leek Town Ladies Reserves - Reserves Captain
  • Ian Smith - Leek Town Ladies - Club Director & Head of the Leek Town Ladies Section

There will also be a chance to discuss & feed ideas into the Women's & Girls Football Festival at Leek Town later in the season.

A licensed bar is available throughout as well as refreshments
