Below-par Blues suffered a hammering at the hands of Premier Division Nantwich Town when they went down 5-0 at the Weaver Stadium in the Doodson Sports Cup.

After two tough away assignments in the FA Trophy, Lee Casswell made six changes to his starting line-up with Danny Smith, Ryan Dicker, Anthony Danylyk, Jordan Johnson, John Johnston and Andy Kinsey all left out of the starting line-up.

Ben Deegan gave the home side the lead with a well-taken shot from 15 yards after 17 minutes, but Mitch Husbands came close to an equaliser soon after when his curling shot just cleared the bar.

Rhys Swetnam missed a great chance on 26 minutes when he hipped in between full back and keeper but was unable to find the net from a tight angle.

Blues fell further behind on 34 minutes when Andy White's free kick flicked off Joe Evans head and lopped over Ben Chapman.

Leek had a big task on their hands and it became a mountain to climb when Andy Bratt got himself sent-off on 53 minutes following a lunging tackle and a shove on a opponent in the ensuing fracas (pictured).

From then on it was a question of how many the Dabbers would score and they added three more through Deegan with his second on 61 minutes and a late brace from Harry Clayton.

Team: Chapman, Swetnam, Evans (Johnston 51), Donnelly, Bratt, Hall, Maguire, Shelley, Grice, Husbands (Kinsey 61), Bell. Not used: Danylyk, Johnson, Stubbs.

Attendance: 82
