Leicester United Men's 1st Team return to competitive action after a 28 year hiatus from senior men's football when they re-join the Leicestershire Everards Senior League for the 2024/25 Season.
Leicester United have not competed in the Senior League for nearly 40 years having left the league in the 1985/86 season last competing as our Reserve Team.
Goodwin's team shall be entered into Division 2 for the forthcoming season.
United will face old rivals Whetstone Athletic & Barrow Town both teams they faced 38 years ago in the same league.
They are also joined in the league by local team Magna 73 Reserves.
Michael Stevenson, Chairman said "This marks an exciting step for the club since we reformed last year and continuing the proud history of this club and its previous successes under the United & Enderby Town name.
The start of the season will and is going to be historic in the sense no one expected the club to be back and with the support of The Richard Moore Sports CIC, I and all the staff involved have been able to make this project a reality and now with both our Men's & Women's Teams offer a full pathway for our Youth Section and thus helping secure the long term future of the club and the local community.
We are grateful to South Wigston High School Sports Academy and their managing company CEL Sports Lettings for ensuring we have a base for the upcoming season with facilities for players , staff and officials but also supporters of both teams and opposition.
This is merely the start for the club and the start of our 2nd season or 98th season some may say and for Ben (Goodwin) and his players this is a chance to join the history books and make people sit up and take notice of us as a club again"
United will announce fixtures and ticketing prices for games in due course, but we hope to see you all at the SWHS Sports Academy Ground in the coming weeks.
