Lenzie 24 Cambuslang 10
Lenzie gained their first league win of the season with an excellent win against newly promoted Cambuslang on a sunny afternoon at Viewfield.
Cambuslang started well and put Lenzie under pressure before scoring a well taken converted try by their stand off. Lenzie responded well and were very unlucky not to score when Moir broke down the wing and his kick ahead appeared to be touched down by the supporting Letford however the referee was unsighted. The game had now turned in Lenzie's favour and they scored a fine team try through Williams which was unconverted.
The game was in the balance before the break and Cambuslang were favourites to score when Baldman intercepted a long pass to sprint in from 50 metres for a converted try for Lenzie to put them in a 12 - 7 lead at the break.
Lenzie dominated the second period with Arnott moving the ball well on his debut at stand off with Scouller, Brett and Timmons playing well in the back row. Lenzie scored a welcomed third try through the irrepressible Letford before McDermott scored the all important bonus point try in the final quarter to the delight of the noisy home crowd.
McKenzie performed well in the line out for Lenzie with Letford awarded man of the match from the satisfied Lenzie coaches.
