Letcombe beat Benson Lions 14 - 0 North Berks League Division 3.

Letcombe thrashed Benson Lions in a one-sided match at Bassett Road despite being without captain and striker Kye Franklin. Jake Ford gave Letcombe the lead after only 3 minutes, and Jamie Saulter added a second with a great lob soon afterwards. Goals continued to flood into the Benson net throughout the half as Tom Marshall drove the ball into the top corner from 25 yards and Lewis Ralphs hit a screamer from the edge of the box. Jamie Saulter was having a field day, scoring four more before the interval for a personal tally of five, and Jake Ford scored his second to give Letcombe a 9-0 interval lead.
The visitors only had 11 players, and when one of those pulled out of the game at half time with a knee injury, they were left to face the second half a man short. Anthony Kerby replaced Lewis Bines in goal, and he made a number of excellent saves as Benson held the Letcombe attack at bay for twenty minutes. Matthew Newbrook eventually scored the tenth from 20 yards, and Angelo Fragata added another before Jake Ford completed his hat trick. It was left to Lewis Ralphs to score the last two goals to also get a hat trick, the last one with a glancing header over the advancing keeper.
Credit must be given to both sides. Letcombe played some superb passing football, and the visitors never gave up, and fought tenaciously to the final whistle despite being outclassed. The game was played in a great spirit with not a single bad tackle throughout the match. Much tougher games will lie ahead for Letcombe, but the defence looked as solid as usual, and at last the goals started to flow.
