Lincoln United extend their unbeaten run to 14 games, with a 1 goal victory over Chris Funnell’s Boston Town.

The first chance of the game fell to the Whites. Jack Varley delivered a corner to the near post that was met by Jack McMenemy but his header was deflected wide.

In the eighth minute, Lincoln United squandered a massive chance to take the lead. Jack McMenemy played through his strike partner Owen Vincent whose effort trickled wide.

The chances kept coming and Kelly Fombad fired wide before Owen Vincent looked to find Jaime Ture but his cross just evaded the wingback.

The poachers first chance of the game just before the half hour mark. A corner wasn’t cleared by the Lincoln United defence and the Boston forward turned and fired just past the far post.

Lincoln pushed to take the lead before the break and came close in the 40th minute. A corner was recycled back to Paul Grimes who found Henry Moore. His header was straight down the throat of Portas and comfortably held.

Portas was called into action a minute later, as neat play from the Whites caused problems for the Boston defence. Jack McMenemy found a yard and curled towards the far corner but Portas dived to his right to tip away from danger.

Just before the break, Owen Vincent was fouled as he ran through 1 on 1 with the ‘keeper. After a stoppage for injury treatment, the referee showed the yellow card to Wilson.

We reached the break level after an edgy and nervy first half.

Lincoln United took the lead in the 52nd minute. An Evan Payne long throw into the box caused havoc for Boston’s defence and Jaime Ture reacted first to fire into the bottom right corner.

Boston reacted well to falling behind, and Harry Limb fired over from 12 yards after hesitation at the back from the Whites.

Just past the 70th minute, it took a remarkable clearance from Henry Moore to deny Harry Limb an equaliser. The forwarded rounded Jack Steggles and looked to finish into an empty net but Henry Moore slid in to clear away.

Kelly Fombad was replaced for the Whites by Scott Matthews, as Scott Hellewell looked to see out the last 15 minutes.

Jack Steggles made a smart stop with his legs a minute later to keep the Lincoln United clean sheet in tact.

Leo Priestley was introduced in the 80th minute, as Paul Grimes made way.

Scott Matthews delivered a deep free kick as Lincoln United pushed for a second. The ball was bet my Henry Moore who called the ‘keeper into a save.

Boston made a triple change in the closing stages, with Chris Funnell looking to roll the dice.

The Poachers pushed to equalise but were unable to create anything meaningful and Lincoln United saw out the win.

Lincoln United’s next game is away to Harrowby United this Tuesday.
