Lincoln United's chairman Rob Bradley, joint vice-chairmen Ian Beaumont and Barry Clements, and all club officials are all to 'step down' for a day on 30th November when the club entertains Frickley Athletic at the Sun Hat Villas Stadium. The match will be designated as 'Takeover Day' with Sports Business, Events Management, and Erasmus European exchange students at Lincoln University all filling those roles as part of their courses. Lincoln United are delighted to help give our Uni guests the experience of running a Northern Premier League game and it is sure to be an interesting afternoon!
Lead student Tom Doherty says:
'On November 30th, University of Lincoln students will be taking it upon themselves to 'takeover' Lincoln United's home fixture against Frickley Athletic as part of our Events Management Year Two assessment. The matchday will see students carry out (with help) the roles of the club's matchday staff ranging from hosting sponsors and away officials, speaking to the team, helping out with the stewarding and so on, as well as carrying out planning, marketing and commercial operations to oversee a thoroughly successful day at Ashby Avenue.
We aim to bring a large group of University students over to the game to show them that Lincoln City - while being the biggest club in the city - is not the only club within the City of Lincoln boundary. In doing so we hope to promote and shed some light on both Lincoln United and the non-league game, bringing some new fans to Ashby Avenue in the long run.
On offer will be discounted entry for students at just £4 a ticket plus cheap food and drink, as well as half-time entertainment and, hopefully, a good game of football. Thank you, and we hope to see as many as possible there on November 30th!
