It’s league cup semi-final time as we host Newark Town in a Lincolnshire derby at Ashby Avenue.

We come into the game off a 2-1 win against Kimberley MWFC on Saturday. The win saw goals from Owen Vincent and Scott Matthews as our unbeaten run was extended to 16 games.

Paul Grimes and Sean Wright were both forced off during the game, adding to Harry Millard as doubts for the game.

In the quarter final, we beat Hinckley AFC 4-3 thanks to goals from Scott Matthews, Jack McMenemy and a brace of own goals.

We’ve played Newark Town twice this season in the league, losing the first game and winning the more recent fixture 4-0.

Newark Town sit fifth in the league, on 62 points after 33 games. Our visitors come into the game off the back of a 2-1 win over Hucknall Town.

Coach Jon Taylor previewed the fixture. He said:

“They will after a bit of revenge from when we played them last but we’ll go into it wanting to win the fixture.

“Once you get to a semi-final you want to make the most of it because finals don’t always come around.”

Up the Whites.
