Lincoln United are delighted to announce the appointment of Paul Grimes, Scott Hellewell and Jon Taylor as their Men’s first team management team for the 24/25 season.
The heavily sought-after management trio has a proven track record of delivering tremendous and enviable success at North Lincolnshire neighbours Winterton Rangers.
Excitement is now building at the club as the management team plan their off-season work and begins to prepare the playing squad for the 24/25 campaign.
The trio were successful through a very strong and competitive recruitment process, with the club having received many impressive and highly credible applications for the management role. Lincoln united would like to thank all of the applicants for registering interest in the position and values the level of interest as a real compliment following a relatively successful season in the UCL Premier Division North and a widely reported and historic journey in the Isuzu FA Vase, finishing one penalty kick away from a trip to Wembley.
The vacant management position was a priority for the club’s board following the decision of the former manager, Chris Funnell, to leave the position shortly after the Play-Off Semi-Final defeat to Skegness Town in late April. Paul, Scott and Jon inherit much of the good work by Chris and his management team, and everyone at the club can’t wait to prepare the playing squad for the start of the new season.
The appointment signals the ambitious intent of the club, swiftly bringing in the talented and experienced management team who successfully guided Winterton Rangers to promotions from Step 6 and Step 5 over their 6-year reign at the club. Recent experience of managing at Step 4, in the highly competitive Northern Premier League North East division, was one of many hugely attractive qualities demonstrated by the management team through the recruitment process.
Lincoln United supporters will naturally understand the connection and affinity of the management team with the club, with Paul having had three playing spells at the Sun Hat Villas and Resorts Stadium, most recently being drafted into the 23/24 season to support the playing squad at a very busy time, on dual registration with Winterton Rangers. Most notably, Paul starred in the FA Vase Quarter Final victory over Deal Town. The connection goes further though with Scott having played at the club in his early years and Jon having relatives who have appeared for the Whites over the years too.
Work behind the scenes will start this weekend with the management team keen to get started, and the board working hard to support the new appointees to get settled into the role and to assist in assembling a playing squad capable of delivering success for the Whites fans on the pitch from late July onwards.
Fans will be able to sample the impact of the new team’s influence as early as Saturday 29 June with a planned first pre-season friendly against Collingham FC, over in Nottinghamshire, before an attractive first home pre-season friendly planned for Saturday 13 July against Gainsborough Trinity. A full and finalised pre-season schedule to follow over the coming weeks, but in the meantime let’s all get behind Paul, Scott and Jon as they start their work!
