In a closely fought final Portway A came out victorious!!

On an unusually warm March afternoon, teams from Anton Junior, Portway Junior, St John the Baptist Primary , Knights Enham , Balksbury Junior and Whitchurch Primary gathered on the pitches at Harrow Way Community School for the annual year 5/6 Town Schools Tournament.
This year’s event was again coordinated and led by the second year sports students from Sparsholt College who planned, organised and led the whole event superbly well.
The teams played their first round of matches in two separate pools and thereafter once the scores had been calculated, moved on to the play offs for either the bowl, plate or cup final placings.
The games were all fiercely contested, but played in good spirit and encompassing the Olympic value of Respect as had been set out and explained to all the participants at the outset. Students from Sparsholt took charge of all the officiating, with support from Lions in the Community coaches Josh Barnett and Cathy Devereux.
After some excellent games of football and some excellent footballing skills on show the overall champions and winners of the Cup competition were Portway A , with a hard fought game against Whitchurch Primary School.
