BLUES RUN ENDED

BLUES RUN ENDED

Simon Jasinski12 Jan - 09:54

Liss Athletic's run of six consecutive League wins came to an end at Hedge End Rangers.

It wasn't the way Mark Glazier's side hoped to open their account for 2025, coming out second best in a 3-1 defeat - despite playing against ten men for over a half.

Full-credit to the hosts who showed great desire and resilience with their numerical disadvantage following a late first half sending off.

There was a new face amongst the Liss starting line-up with defender James Liddiard dual signing from Midhurst & Easebourne.

Angus Mackay (pictured) gave the Blues the lead from the spot in the first half, before the hosts turned the game on its head to lead 2-1.

A penalty kick of their own with a quarter-hour would ultimately put the game beyond Liss, who struck the woodwork in either half but over the course of the ninety, lacked decisiveness in front of goal.

Our thanks to Hedge End Rangers for enabling a late reverse of this fixture, with Newman Collard originally frozen off.

A visit to Moneyfields Reserves is up next on January 18, while the reserves welcome Blackfield & Langley to Newman (both 2pm).
