Liverpool maintain 100% league start

The stage was set for a close encounter today at Greenbank Sports Academy. Rob Harper and Harrison Jackson lined up for Liverpool against their old squad and ex-Liverpool player Connor Sandham was in the Bolton B squad. A cagey start with Bolton B playing in all-yellow, sitting deep initially. Liverpool playing in all-red, had the initial possession.

Then on 3 minutes Jake Morris dispossessed a Bolton player and made the short pass to Kenna Ngoma. Kenna was challenged and the ball came back to Jake unmarked on the edge of the penalty area to calmly slot the ball into the corner for the opening goal to Liverpool.

Bolton pressed for the equaliser with Jake Martin and Bradley Aspinall going close for Bolton B. Then after 5 minutes Liverpool doubled their lead. Harrison Jackson with the run from his own half found Roger Miranda Escamez on the right , Harrison made the overlapping run, but Roger found Wesam Awn in space in the middle of the pitch. Wesam took the touch and hit the ball high into the net from just outside the area. The game then became quite tight. The next goal would make it either 2-1 or 3-0, which would put Liverpool in the driving seat. Half time Liverpool 2 Bolton B 0.

Second half remained close, with the next goal remaining important. Tom Blake in the Liverpool goal making some excellent stops, palming two Bolton shots onto the bar. Then Matty Calland misplaced a pass on the half way line for Bolton B and Liverpool broke 3 v 1 with Wesam Awn, Matty Best to his left and Harrison Jackson to his right. Wesam played it to Matty, who found H at the second post to bundle the ball in from close range to make it Liverpool 3-0 Bolton B.

Liverpool had a late change to the squad with Lee Soiza withdrawing through illness. Goalkeeper Bahman Khalili replaced him and came on with 5 minutes remaining for the impressive Tom Blake. Bahman kept a clean sheet but sustained an eye injury in the last challenge of the game, which required a hospital visit after the game. Full time Liverpool 3 - 0 Bolton B.
