LLANDEGFAN bowed out of the Lucas Oil Cup in the very first round with a heavy defeat at Arriva Bangor.
The home side were in rampant form - hitting five in the first half to put us out of reach early on. Our only glimmer of hope in the first 45 came when Nathan Harris played a wonderful ball over the top to play in Paul Jones, who finished well to hit his fifth goal of the season.
In the second half, Llandeg struck first when Dale Rowlands made it 5-2 from close range after Charlie Diamond had done very well to take the ball into the box before laying it off to the winger.
A dubious penalty decision saw Arriva have a chance to make it six from the spot - which they did. Two more goals followed late on to make it an emphatic victory for Kevin Jones' team.
Commenting after the match, Llandegfan manager Arron Evans said: "It was another tough game for us but we made it harder for ourselves with the way we started the game. It took five goals to go in for us to wake up for some reason, which is very disappointing.
"The half time team talk seemed to work as we came out much stronger in the second 45 and could have had more than just the one goal. The penalty decision killed any chance of a miraculous comeback but that's football.
"We wish Arriva all the best in the next round and now turn out attentions to our clash with top of the table Cemaes Bay next Friday night - which again will be a very difficult encounter."
