Porthmadog FC’s Iwan Williams returns to Llanfairpwll

Steve Smith23 May 2012 - 16:38

Llanfairpwll FC can confirm that Iwan Williams has signed for the club from Huws Gray Cymru Alliance outfit Porthmadog FC for the 2012/13 season.

The 27 year-old returns to Maes Eilian with a wealth of Cymru Alliance League experience, having played last season with league champions GAP Connah’s Quay up until the January transfer window before returning to Porthmadog for his fourth spell with the club. After starting his career with Porthmadog in the Welsh Premier, Iwan left for a spell with Newtown before returning to Y Traeth. Williams played for Llanfairpwll in the 2009/10 season, scoring 20 goals for Llanfair, including the opening goal of the game against then Welsh Premier champions Rhyl in a 3 – 1 home defeat in the Welsh Cup.

On his return to Llanfairpwll, Iwan had this to say, “I’m really looking forward to working under Darren and Sion again. They were so influential in my achievements at the club last time I was here, and for that I will be repaying them by working hard in the coming months and season in trying to guide such a fantastic club, back to where they belong. Although my work will constraint my availability, I will be trying to give the club as much time as possible.”

Iwan added, “From the games I watched last season, and with such a young, promising squad, I’m convinced that we will be able to bring the good times back to Llanfairpwll, Roll on August!”

Club manager Darren Moore also welcomed Iwan back to the club, "It's great news for us to be able to bring a player of Iwan's quality and vast experience to the club and hopefully he'll be a great example to our younger players."

"Not only does Iwan have bags of quality but he has that determination and will to win you just cannot buy these days."

Everyone at Llanfairpwll would like to welcome Iwan back to the club and hope he can be influential in helping us achieve our ultimate aim of returning to the Cymru Alliance.
