Llan were beaten on Saturday in the heat by Penrhyncoch 4-1. The game was a tighter affair than the scoreline suggests and there were positives to take from the performance with numerous players missing. It was a tight opening and Llan had the first chance with Joe Vaughan heading wide from a Sam Thomas cross. Penrhyn were looking dangerous on the break and on 30 minutes the took the lead with a good strike from distance. 10 minutes later they doubled their lead when the reacted quickest to a loose ball from close range. Llan were then back in the game on 43 minutes when new signing forced the ball home from close range.
Llan started the second half strongly and penned the visitors back for spell, but no clear cut chances were created. Joint manager Marc Griffiths skimmed the post with an effort early in the half. Penrhyn were still dangerous on the break and mid way through the half they doubled their lead from one of these breaks. Llan were still working hard but again no clear chances were created. The game was finally put to bed on 86 minutes when Penrhyn scored their fourth of the afternoon with a strike from the edge of the box.
A tough game in the heat with the missing players but as mentioned earlier there were plenty of positives to take from the game. A special mention alos to the performance of the match officials - it was refreshing to have a team who were openly communicating with the players. A massive congratulations to the three of them.
Next weekend we start our league campaign with a trip to Prestatyn for a 2.30 kick off.
