Llanrwst 1 st team climb above today's opponents in the league table after a convincing win at Gwydir park.
Visitors Dolgellau chose to field first after winning the toss and the Rwsters made a solid start on a difficult pitch to share an opening stand of 44 between Trefor Williams (22) and Aron Hughes (22). Middle order contributions from Nathan Jones (15), Aled Hughes (12), Scott Thomas (12) and top scorer Huw Williams (36) saw Llanrwst at a strong position at 131 for 6 but for a late order collapse see them all out for 155.
Dolgellau Innings started strongly as they raced to 44 in the 9th over before the first wicket fell. Top scorer Greg Smithies (31) was cleaned up by Tref soon after which sparked a dramatic collapse for the visitors as they went from 62 for 2 to 88 all out. The Evergreen Trefor Williams was top contributor with the ball as he returned figures of 5 wickets for 29 runs. Left arm spinner Scott Thomas picked 3 for 24 and 1 wicket for Leon Doran with his first bowling spell for the firsts. Catches were taken by Aled, Scott and Alex Evans, who also had a run out.
The win leaves the Rwsters 6th in division one with a trip to 3rd placed Bersham awaiting them next week.
