Goal of the Season 2016/2017

Goal of the Season 2016/2017

Llanymynech Football Club1 May 2017 - 20:40

Llanymynech saw many great goals scored this season but the committee whittled it down to four nominees.

Chris Grommell – Berriew Reserves (Away)

Grommell, a player who is well known for scoring stunning goals, added another to his collection with a long range effort to give Llanymynech the lead. His drive from thirty yards gave the keeper no chance as it flew into the top right hand corner.

Sam Roberts – Four Crosses (Home)

With just a couple of minutes left in this historic cup fixture Roberts managed to anticipate an under hit back pass and strike a left footed strike low in off the right hand post. Goal of the season or not, this goal would probably win celebration of the season from the team and off the field squad.

Mike Edwards – Trefonen (Home)

Edwards received the ball with his back to goal, and with two slick touches took the ball away from his marker and then placing the ball into the far corner to leave the keeper left stunned,

Mike Edwards – Morda (Away)

This goal came against the run of play and was Edwards first of three on the afternoon. Good play down the left hand side saw a ball crossed into the box and cleared into the air where Edwards met the ball with tremendous technique to thunder home a volley to begin a brilliant day for the player and the club.
