Last Saturday Chargers Chairman Cam Paul travelled to Coventry to put the case forward for the inclusion of London Chargers into the 2016 Conference League South (CLS).
The venue was Butts Park in Coventry - the venue for Chargers first Harry Jepson Final win in 2013 - and the meeting was the 2015 CLS season review.
Chairman Paul, addressed concerns regarding player numbers, finances, and player availability for the longer season. In attendance was the 2015 CLS clubs and the 2016 clubs looking to enter.
The answers must have ticked all the relevant boxes as the existing clubs have voted for Chargers entering the league in 2016. The 2016 club line up will be as follows:
All Golds CLS Team
Coventry Bears Reserves
Leicester Storm
London Chargers RL (formerly South West London Chargers)
Nottingham Outlaws
Oxford Cavaliers
Torfean Tigers
Valley Cougars
West Wales Raiders (formerly The Raiders)
The season will kick off on Saturday 19th March and the grand final the 17th September. Fixtures will be announced in the new year. The committee and players are very much looking forward to the challenge the CLS has to offer.
With the inclusion in the CLS secured the future of Chargers 2nd team can now be announced as entering the London Premier league. It is an exciting time for the club and all involved can't wait for the 2016 season to get under way.
The focus in the short term though is the 2016 Ladbrokes Challenge Cup where chargers will play in the first round on Saturday 30th January. The draw takes place at Wembley on the 7th January.
London Chargers RL are looking for commercial partners to come on board in 2016. With the step up in league, the costs (especially travel estimated at £5,000) have increased and we welcome interested companies and individuals to please contact the chairman on chairman@londonchargersrl.com
Training for the Challenge Cup will commence on Tuesday 5th January - stay tuned to our facebook page for more information.
