Longside had Stoneywood Parkvale as visitors on Saturday in the third round of the Scottish Junior Cup. The visitors took the lead in the 8th minute when a Ryan Davidson corner was missed by everyone at the front post and AARON SHAND was on hand to score from close range.

The home side were reduced to ten men was Jason Bain was sent off for a tackle inside the box, NEALE DAVIDSON made no mistake from the spot. Longside made an enforced change when the injured Wallace was replaced by Lawrence.

They were awarded a penalty in the 40th minute but James Bain’s kick was saved by McNaught. Just before the break Stoneywood scored a third when RYAN DAVIDSON scored from close range.

The day got worse minutes into the second half when Campbell tipped a Shand shot onto the bar but NEALE DAVIDSON was on hand to score from close range. With 52 minutes gone AARON SHAND scored number five for Stoneywood. Taylor replaced Tocher for Longside in 65 minutes.

Lawrence sent James Bain clear for Longside but he was unlucky to see his shot beat the keeper but come back off the bar to safety. Longside did pull a goal back when Webster played the ball through to JAMES BAIN and he fired the ball home.

Longside were awarded a second penalty when James Bain was fouled in the box, Stuart’s kick was again saved by McNaught. NEALE DAVIDSON completed his hat trick when he scored with a stunning strike from outside the box.

Summing up : A day to forget for Longside who didn’t get going in this game and were well beaten.
