Officials at Lowestoft Town FC have hailed the dedication, achievements, stunning goalscoring exploits and commitment of a club legend.

It comes as talismanic striker Jake Reed departs the club and is set to join Gorleston.

Having hit a remarkable 204 goals in 370 appearances for Lowestoft over three spells, Reedy has played an "instrumental" role in the club's successes.

In a statement, fans favourite Reed said: "I am sad to announce that I will be departing Lowestoft Town Football Club.

"The club has been a big part of my life, having played for Lowestoft for more than a decade.

"Lowestoft has been incredibly important to me, being a local lad who grew up within the town, and I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at the club.

"I now feel the time is right for me to take a new direction and set new goals.

"I would like to thank the Board of Directors, volunteers, staff, players and of course the amazing supporters.

"Thank you for all you have done whilst I've been at the club and I wish you all the best for the rest of the season and future."

Having signed from Dagenham & Redbridge in October 2013, the prolific striker soon shone on the pitch with 18 league goals in his first 33 league games.

A brief spell away from the club followed, before he rejoined in 2014 - going on to score more than 50 times in league games as Lowestoft climbed the pyramid, until he joined Leiston in 2018.

Returning in 2019, his remarkable goalscoring exploits have continued leading to a stunning milestone being achieved this season as Reedy has now made it 204 goals scored in 370 appearances for his hometown club.

On October 5, Reed was presented with a framed shirt in recognition of this incredible achievement of scoring 200 goals for The Trawlerboys!

Praising Reedy's achievements, contributions to the club and remarkable service over "an incredible" period, a club spokesman said: "Lowestoft Town FC wishes to express its deepest gratitude as we announce the departure of Jake Reed.

"Local lad Jake joined the club in October 2013 and went on to serve us for an incredible period.

"His contributions both on and off the pitch were instrumental in shaping the club's successes during this time, and we are truly grateful for his dedication.

"Over his career with us Jake scored a remarkable 204 goals and played a key role in our 2023/24 Isthmian League Division One North title win.

"His Golden Boot- winning season helped us secure our promotion to the Southern League Premier Division Central - cementing his place in Lowestoft Town FC history.

"Beyond his achievements on the pitch, Jake has been a tremendous presence within the club - renowned for his personality, leadership and loyalty.

"He has been more than just a player - he has been a true servant of Lowestoft Town FC.

"His presence will be sorely missed and we are immensely proud of what Jake has achieved during his time here.

"On behalf of the Chairman, Directors, volunteers and staff Lowestoft Town FC we extend our heartfelt thanks to Jake for his unwavering commitment, hard work and passion over the years.

"We wish Jake every success in his future football career at Gorleston FC, and know he will continue to shine."
