Recently I was asked to help coach the Rugby & District Under 17’s. The squad was due to play 3 inter Warwickshire county district games against North Warwickshire, South Warwickshire and a team from the Coventry area.

Training sessions started at Rugby St Andrews RFC in late November and as with previous seasons there was a good representation from Lutterworth RFC.

The coaching team was made up of Sean Deery and Dean Smith, both from Warwickshire and myself.

Our first game was played on the 7th January 2018 at Leamington RFC against North Warwickshire District. Lutterworth supplied more players than any other club.

The Rugby & District lads won comfortably 38-0 making a great start to the campaign.

Unfortunately the game against South Warwickshire was cancelled as they could not raise a team and so the district final was played against Coventry at Dunlop RFC on Sunday 14th January.

This was a far more challenging affair with the lads from Rugby & District having to dig deep but eventually coming away victorious 27-24.

Another great result, which meant Rugby & District were crowned champions once again.

The trophy ceremony took place at Dunlop RFC.

I would just like to thank all the players from Lutterworth RFC who made themselves available for training and the games, you were a credit to Lutterworth RFC.
