Long serving 1st team keeper Rich Thomas looks likely to miss the vital games in this season's fight to stay up.
Going into the final 15 minutes of last Saturday's game at Mangotsfield just 1-0 down, Thomas was involved in an incident that saw him leave the field with damaged knee ligaments. With no keeper on the bench, manager Lee Smith donned the shirt but was unable to prevent the hosts scoring 4 late goals to ensure the 3 points.
Thomas, who rarely misses games through injury, has played a major part in a difficult season. On several occasions this term he has single handedly kept the team in games, and ensured we came away with at least a point in many of them.
The management team of Smith and Dix have acted quickly following the news and have recruited two possible replacements. Former Newent Town keeper Alex Goode has been added to the squad alongside former Bristol Rovers keeper Olly Phillips who rejoins the club having started the season at Slimbridge.
