Wayne, after last nights draw, you must be delighted?
I am very pleased, especially to be handed a home draw against a Football League side in Morecambe - it is really beneficial to us as a team and the club. It's a good draw for us and I am delighted the boys will be able to apply their skills against full-time and professional footballers. I believe we are the lowest ranked team left in the competition who have a home tie, so I am keeping my fingers crossed that we are picked as one of the feature games, live on National Television. It would raise much needed money for the club and it would be a fantastic reward for the group of players at the club, after their hard work to get this far.
Having just hosted Haringey Borough at home with almost 400 spectators, you must be disappointed that the FA have decided that all games in the First Round of the competition must be played behind closed doors?
Of course, I am disappointed, for our supporters but also the team. The support we received on Saturday was brilliant and it really helped us get over the line against Haringey. However, I understand the decision the FA have made and peoples health is paramount, we must respect the decision. As much as I understand, I still disappointed but hopefully, if we are picked for a televised match, our supporters will still be able to watch us.
The team will be excited for the next match, of course. But now, is it all about keeping their feet on the ground and just focusing on the next few games against Tibury and Kingstonian respectively?
Absolutely! We are unbeaten so far this season and we want to continue that good run of form. Winning games and remaining unbeaten will fill the team with confidence and belief and that is important if we want to be successful. Tonight's match against Tilbury will be a real challenge, they have had a brilliant start to the season and we will need to be on top of our game if we want to continue our run. It is an old cliché, but we need to take it one game at a time.
Lastly Wayne, you have added defender, Joe Turpin to your squad at Park Drive. What can you tell us about Joe and what will he bring to the Jammers?
Joe is a great addition to our squad, he joins from Tilbury were he has been impressive since he re-joined them from Basildon United. He is a left sided central defender, who will add strength and depth to our side, creating a healthy battle for a place in the starting eleven. Joe is a player I have had my eye on for a long time and I was delighted when he agreed to join the club. I look forward to seeing him in action for us and I am sure the fans will do to.
