The win again heavily relied on the bowlers and a good fielding display which restricted TM to 107 and although the batting struggled to fire, a positive effort from the middle order saw Malpas home.
Callum Southall set the tone with an excellent 7 over spell of 3 for 15. His final wicket of their dangerous opener was a key moment, with Lewis Charlton holding onto the vital catch.
Top wicket taker Jordan Roberts backed that up with another excellent spell which included 2 wickets in 2 balls. Mike Parry chipped in with a couple and youngster Ben Rogers also took 2 in 2 balls at the end of the innings to grab his first league wickets for Malpas. The highlight of a good fielding display was a fine one handed grab by veteran Mark Jones at slop. It looks likes Jones has begun his mission to dispose of the golden bucket!
Malpas again lost early wickets and were in trouble at 12-3. The momentum changed though as Parry and Tom Lyes counter attacked putting on 40 in good time. Lyes was dismissed for 20 but Parry was joined by Lewis Charlton who batted superbly, crunching the ball through cover and looking solid in defence. Parry was eventually bowled for 31 with Malpas still needing 40 to win and when Danny Lloyd was adjudged lbw second ball, nerves began to fray. However Charlton and Roberts 24 not out and 18 not out held their nerve and got Malpas home.
