As one of the many people that were luckily enough to know Ian, you could not fail to have been touched by his infectious laugh and nature. A hard man in real life but a real fun bloke to be around. I was a litttle luckier than most having grown up with him, and spending quite a few of our formative years terroising older miners with our antics. Ian was a true physical sportsman he never backed off and even when the style did not suit him at least he tried. In everthing he touced he left a physical and lasting presence. He was once mentioned in Rugby world as Manor Parks most versatlie player coming onto the field in various positions when required but always leaving a wake of broken bodies behind him. He started his rugby carear as a hooker as he and a player called jub seemed to have the same fighing style he felt this would suit him. Later he moved onto the wing using his direct strong running to massive effect ( if he could only have caught the ball better)
Most of us around Ian's age will fondly remember many of his sayings, our children were certainly enthralled with his war stories. But he always ended with i cant tell you any more or i will have to kill you.
Many of us off that age will have memories good and bad, hopefully we will bring some back to life over the weekend
And finally his by far favourite joke of all time was mirror mirror on the wall, and I wont mention or embarrses all of you who he caught with it.
Like most I miss him most days, rest in peace Brunty
