“New Team In Charge At Town

Market Drayton Town FC are delighted to announce a number of new appointments as the club looks forward to an exciting new era. Matthew Allen (centre) has been appointed as Chairman and he will lead a progressive team off the pitch in order to support new manager Dan Dawson (centre left), and his team of coaches and players.

Allen has been at the club for one season as club secretary and now takes on the reigns having previously built and managed a very successful side for 5 years at Hodnet. Joining Allen at the club will be former Market Drayton Town manager Simon Line (centre right) who joins as Director of Football, Alex Dobson (far left) joins as Club Secretary and Roy Blase (far right) joins the committee along with Dan Hand (not pictured)

"Having been at the club for a season and experienced the disappointing drop off, which led to the club finishing stone last for a fifth season in a row there is no argument that the club needs a new direction and re-igniting. Good people have put a lot of hours and toil into this club with little reward lately and they leave with my heartfelt gratitude, but we will now rebuild this football club with passionate, local football people who have a burning desire to see this club as one of Shropshire's strongest once again. We aim to build on the strong community links the club has established and re-engage our fan base, which we know has always been extensive, but groups of people and eras of fans have felt pushed away or ignored, now's the time to come back, see what we're doing, tell us what you would like to see and support your club and town. The mission is clear and simple and goes for the team on and off the pitch 'Build a winning culture, with a core of Market Drayton people'. At the foundations of this are 3 aims: Build on the past success...Simon Line is critical here, he's a winner, and cares passionately about this club, I'm absolutely delighted he's back involved and he will be a key factor to the future success of the club. Aim 2 is Developing the link with the community and Market Drayton Tigers. Market Drayton Tigers is an outstanding club and a vast amount of talent has flowed through there in recent years, that's a huge credit to all the coaches and people who work tirelessly, but what can we do more of to benefit each other, this is key to keeping the best players in the 'Market Drayton system' but also for the longevity and success of both clubs. Aim 3 is Thinking differently at the club, can we compete with the budgets of your Stockport Towns or Droylsdens, probably not, but can we attract the best minds who think about things unlike others in their positions and set new paths for others to copy, yes we can. Alex Dobson, Dan Hand and Roy Blase are the new energy and enthusiasm this club needs to achieve this. Lastly I would like say this club belongs to the Town, no one else, we are just custodians trying to improve its fortunes, be involved if you care, if you can't be involved, be supportive"

The Club would also like to thank departing board and committee members Paul Jackson, Anthony Brisbourne, and Jayne Lawton for all their efforts and hard work over the years and wish them the very best in whatever the future holds for them
