Marlow got back to playing after a months break with five goals to overcome Berks County Rovers in the Subsidiary Cup

Marlow were delighted to get the game played, having only managed five competitive matches thus far this season, even if the pitch was not up to standard.
Despite this they were straight out of the stalls, taking a two goal lead inside four minutes with some lightening quick counters, Devonte Johnson slotting home inside a minute after Vinnie Moore played him into the area.
They doubled the score three minutes later with the two Jacks combining, Thorndyke finding Rowley on the left, the wide man running on before firing home from twenty yards.
County were looking a little shocked at this turn of events but they began to get to grips with proceedings, getting the better of the midfield exchanges as they looked to get on the scoreboard.
The pressure paid off on eleven minutes with a free kick being awarded twenty five yards outside the United area, the subsequent kick completely deceiving stand in keeper Steve Curtis who stood rooted as the ball sailed into the net.
County were seeing more of the ball but it was the home team who looked the more dangerous, threatening to score when they broke which they did frequently.
Despite this the visitors equalised on twenty one minutes, taking advantage of indecision at the centre of the Marlow defence following a free kick to fire into an unguarded net.
Marlow continued to threaten the County defence, Rowley going close, Johnson seeing an effort saved as he ran through, but they had to wait until the penultimate minute of the half to take the lead, the industrious Moore bursting down the right and firing inside the far post from an angle to ensure they entered the break ahead.
HT 3-2
Manager Ash Sharma bought on Morgan Hill and Brodie McGinnis for Eric Sharma and Jack Rowley at the start of the second half as he looked to take control of proceedings.
Maybe it was the changes, but United increased their lead inside two minutes with a Thorndyke free kick finding Moore free at the far post, he calmly slotted the ball into the net.
Marlow it was who were now dictating the run of play, Johnson going through on goal and earning a corner.
On fifty six minutes United thought they had gone further ahead after Thorndyke fired home following free kick only to be ruled offside, that though only delayed the fifth goal with Johnson notching his second of the game, his pace taking him clear of his markers to fire past keeper Platt.
Leading by three goals Harvey Beard and Kieron Stott entered the fray , replacing Moore and Tipler and United really should have added a sixth as Brodie McGinnis was sent clear of the County defence only to be thwarted by Platt in the county goal.
Slack play saw Marlow lose the ball on seventy six minutes, allowing County to pull a goal back but it was not enough for them to change the outcome of the game, in fact United should have added another goal with Stott firing wide when well placed, and Rowley shinning his effort when running through.
Next week Marlow return to Hedsor as they play Taplow in the Subsidiary Cup. KO 2pm.
