Martock RFC were left Heartbroken at home to Bridgwater 3rd XV on Saturday 23rd April after a late missed conversion from Dan Potter in the dying moments of the game gave Bridgwater 3rd XV the decider. Bridgwater 3rd XV were positioned reasonable high in the league table, whilst Martock RFC were in need of a few extra points to seal their place in Somerset 2 South for next season. This comes after a historic win for Martock RFC the previous Saturday; beating Frome 3rd XV 54 – 0 at home. Martock RFC gained a bonus losing point from the Bridgwater game, which could have easily of been 2 points had it been a draw. That said, Martock RFC moved further away from the bottom of the league, with another couple of winnable games against Minehead Barbarians 2nd XV and Winscombe 2nd XV both at the Martock Recreational Ground Saturday 30th April, and 2nd May. As the season draws to an end, Martock RFC will need to remain critical by putting in the numbers on the day and maintaining composure to get the job done. Due to many injuries and other circumstances throughout the season, the club and its players have been put through its paces, but hopefully will see the reward at the end of the season. Dan Potter, although very upset after Saturday’s result, has put in an incredible performance this season and should see this as a learning curve for next season.
