Representing Mellish Rugby Football Club and Notts, Lincs and Derby RFU at Twickenham!
A huge congratulations to Syd, club director and former President, fixtures secretary and coach amongst many other roles and his very supportive wife Beryl, who were nominated by grandson Will Baker and then the NLD RFU to receive the RFU President's Value the Volunteer Outstanding Contribution Award.
This Honda Volunteer Recognition programme, is an RFU initiative to recognise exceptional role volunteers play within the rugby community and acknowledge the huge amount of work that takes place behind the scenes to ensure that rugby gets played at all levels.
This award recognises the impact that Syd and Beryl have had being at the heart of Mellish for over 40 years. Together they run the 100 club to provide funds to support all club players as well as managing the kit shop, organising international tickets and looking after the grounds and clubhouse and lots more!
Syd and Beryl were presented with their well-deserved award as guests of the RFU at the England vs Scotland Six Nations game at Allianz stadium, Twickenham. They enjoyed match tickets, a pre-match behind the scenes tour of the stadium and fantastic hospitality in both the West Stand Members’ Lounge and Spirit of Rugby.
Well done Syd and Beryl and thanks for all you do!
