So lets get this out the way first. With all the modern day technology in cars, it should not be possible to run out of fuel less than 10miles after leaving home.....it shouldn't be possible, but apparently it is, just ask Daz.

Mellish U12's travelled away to Lincoln for the final game of the season. Joining Mellish and Lincoln were Sleaford to make it a double-header.

First up were Lincoln, the only side to have beaten the U12's this season. Despite the obvious disruption of all the kit and balls being stranded at Gunthorpe Bridge at kick off, the boys started the game off well against probably one of the toughest opponents we have faced this year - like last time round, Lincoln had a great shape to their play. The deadlock was broken by a great breakaway try from Joe Mackley, showing great pace to run around the edges of the Lincoln defence. Despite a strong reply from the Lincoln team, the try acted as a catalyst for the Mellish boys, with Jamie C rampaging through the opposition to score a couple of quick tries. The Lincoln side never gave up and continued to test the defence but in the end were not able to breach the try line, Mellish finishing 4-0 winners.

With the coach still absent, Mellish kicked-off their second game against Sleaford. With the boy's warmed up from a hard earned victory, they quickly put pressure on the Sleaford side, racking up a number of tries in quick succession. By half-time the boys finally had kit to wear and the tries continued to flow - 11 in total. The standout moment being Roman scoring his first try of the season - big smile on his face and that of his team mates when it happened. Mellish winning 11-0.

Try scorers today: Jamie (4); Leo (2); Joe Mack (2); Joe C (2); Ethan B (2); Roman; Jacob; and Noah.

It was a great moment to see Roman score, Joe C and Noah playing well again in their first season with us, but standout player today was Jamie C - he was like a human cannonball being fired through the defence. Just shows that when he has his game face on, he is pretty much unstoppable.
