Celebrating Club Legends…

Two former colleagues from the Surrey Constabulary shared a special occasion on Saturday last weekend following Met Police home game against Ashford Town when they were presented with awards from The Football Association marking 50 years of service to football.

Brian Carroll from Godalming has a long history of playing, Secretary and later Chairman of the Surrey Constabulary Football Club followed by over 30 years as a member of the management committee of Surrey FA. Since leaving his post at Surrey FA he has been a regular at Met Police where he is a Board Room host.

Des Flanders from Guildford served with Mr Carroll in the Surrey Constabulary and was Chairman of the Football Club until his transfer to the Metropolitan Police in 1988. In 1989 he was appointed a Vice Chairman of the Football Club in 1989 and installed as Chairman in 1990, a post he still holds to date. For 14 years Mr Flanders also served and a director on the board of the Isthmian League and is a Vice President of the League.

Mr Carroll said “I am delighted and honoured to receive this award” while Mr Flanders commented that “ these awards recognise the contribution Brian and I have been able to make whilst representing the police service”.
