Milford Hall 1sts picked up a vital win on Saturday, defeating bottom club Nuneaton by 83 runs.
After being put in to bat, Milford made 209-9 with James Davis (58 not out) and Zaheer Suliman (40) the leading run scorers.
Ejaz Nawaz then ripped through the top order to put Milford in control. His 6-39 – together with a couple of wickets each for Chris Dean and Sam Jeavons – saw Milford to a comfortable victory. Although they remain in the bottom four they are now only 13 points adrift of fourth placed Astwood Bank in what is proving to be a tightly contested division.

The 2nds dominated their game at home to Bridgnorth but Michael Astley’s 126 not out wasn’t enough to secure victory as the visitors held on for a draw.
Astley’s marathon innings helped his side to 268-2 with Luke Ponder adding 71 and Matt Kirby 28.
The visitors were in deep trouble at 98-7 in reply but they managed to hold out for the draw, closing on 150-8. Rob Firth was Milford’s leading bowler, taking 6-35.

Staffs Clubs

The 3rds chased down Wolverhampton’s 249 to win by five wickets at Danescourt Road.
Danny Stacey produced excellent figures of 3-6 from his seven over spell but others were a little more costly as Wolves posted an impressive total.
But Milford made a good start in their reply with Nooh Salam hitting 56. Ras Gamage (89 not out) and Yasir Siraj (37 not out) took Milford to victory with 11 overs to spare.

Lydia Perry picked up her first ever five wicket haul as Milford 4ths beat Beacon by 52 runs.
Perry’s figures of 5-9 from 10 overs helped to dismiss Beacon for 153 in reply to Milford’s 205 all out. Girish Dharmapurikar hit 52 for Milford with James Moran’s 29 providing the lead support.

Village Knock Out

Sadly, Milford’s dreams of Lords have ended for another season following their defeat at Astwood Bank on Sunday.
After a disappointing start, Milford posted a reasonable score of 191-8 with James Davis top scoring on 35. Kev Royce and Luke Ponder both made 28. The home side reached their target for the loss of five wickets with 16 balls to spare. Sam Jeavons and Stu Phazey both took two wickets for Milford.

Women’s League Cricket

Milford’s Ladies made it six wins out of six with their latest triumph, away to Plumtree. Poppy Davis was the star of the show for Milford, making 95 while Megan Jones hit 30 in a total of 177-6.
This was always likely to be too many for Plumtree and they fell for 80 all out, Grace Bambury taking 4-12.

Junior Cricket

There was disappointment for the U14’s who lost to Eccleshall by 4 wickets. Milford recorded 106-3 from their 20 overs but Eccleshall got home with seven balls to spare despite Jacob Latham taking 3-9. This was followed by another defeat – this time by 77 runs at home to Moddershall & Oulton despite Charlie Stenson hitting 24 for Milford.
Better news came for the U12’s who defeated Stafford by 6 wickets. The latter were restricted to 86-8 with Billy Lowther and Aryan Gupta both taking two wickets. Gupta (26 not out) and Duncan Clarke (28) saw Milford to victory.
The U8’s were also victorious against Stafford in their South Moorlands League fixture. Conor Shrehorn (33) and Harry Trubshaw (30) top scored.
