Weekly Junior Round Up

Weekly Junior Round Up

David High21 May 2021 - 14:10

This weeks Junior results

Just a quick breakdown of the games that have gone on this week.

U12s V Lindal
The U12's visited Lindal for their first game of the season. On on cold night on Lindal Moor we batted first. Kyle and Reece got us off to a steady start occupying the crease well and not getting out. The next pair of Jayden and Charlie again batted well with the latter hitting 3 fours. Cody and Maddox added 20 in their 4 overs Cody hitting the boundary 3 times. Oscar and Oliver also added 20 both of them hitting a couple of boundaries.
When we bowled wickets fell at regular intervals with Kyle, Cody, Reece, Madison and Maddox all taking 1 wicket and a great effort from Lucas and Oscar saw them bag 2 wickets apiece. A special mention came from Mikey regarding Eli who kept brilliantly, stopping everything, putting his body on the line. In Mikey's words he looked like he had been keeping for years. Well done Eli.
Overalll a great team performance and great start to the season.

U13s V Haverigg

In a friendly game against local rivals Haverigg, Millom proved too strong for the visitors bowling them out for 35 with great bowling from all involved.
When we batted we made light work of the total with Josh batting well in scoring 20 odd runs. The game was over early so the 2 coaches decided to have a 10 over per side game to keep the crowd entertained. This went in similar fashion with everyone batting in a pairs format Millom scored 45 runs with some impressive batting especially from the younger players. Again our bowlers proved too strong for Haverigg and they didn't really trouble the total with wickets falling at regular intervals.
Great introduction to the proper format of the game for the u11s involved.

U14s V Lindal

With another visit to Lindal for the juniors it seemed that the parents had learnt from last week and wooly hats and gloves were on show as they braved the elements again on the Moor.
Lindal batted first and scored 67 for 4 in their 20 overs. Millom could only field 10 players including a number of the younger u11's and it was great to see everyone given a bowl. The pick of the bowlers was Reuben Lupton with 2 wickets. Again it was good to see Maddox stepping up an age group and getting his first wicket.
In reply Millom reached the total for the loss of 1 wicket with a great opening partnership between Josh Mackie and Callum High. Josh unfortunately run out for 28 and Callum retired on 30. Oliver and Braith saw the team over the line.
This year it looks like the younger players will get an opportunity to play in and gain valuable experience in the U14 format of the game and it is great to see them not only step up but take their chance.

Great week for the juniors. Same again next week hopefully.
