Give Touch Rugby League A Try!

Give Touch Rugby League A Try!

Pete Nuttall5 Mar 2014 - 14:59

This Tuesday (11th March), Touch Rugby League comes to Milton Keynes. And you can join us!

Touch Rugby League is a fantastic team sport, open to anyone over the age of 14, whether you're male or female, old or young, fit or not-quite-as-fit-as-you'd-like-to-be.

It offers a great opportunity to get fit & active, to make new friends, and crucially, to score some tries! And, because it's a non-contact version of the game (a "touch" is a tackle), anyone can play without fear of being injured in a tackle.

Even if you've never picked up a rugby ball before, Touch Rugby League is a great introduction to the sport, giving you plenty of time and opportunity to learn the game at your own pace, with the encouragement of your team-mates. And even if you come along on your own, you'll quickly be made to feel welcome and a part of your team.

We’ll have all the equipment - just bring suitable boots (moulded studs, astroturf trainers or regular trainers are fine. Just no metal studs or blades please, by request of Powerleague...) and a willingness to join in.

We're starting on Tuesday (11th March) with 8 weeks of informal "turn-up-and-play" sessions while you learn the game, and then we'll structure a more formal social mixed league competition from May.

It's £5 a session, but in return you'll learn a great new sport. You'll get fit, have fun and make some great new mates. What have you got to lose?

We start on Tuesday 11th March from 7.30pm-8.30pm at Powerleague MK Fyfield Barrow, Walnut Tree, Milton Keynes, MK7 7WH. Come along a little early to meet everyone, then we’ll get some introductions to the sport done, and have a bit of a run about…

To get involved, please visit www.playtouchrugbyleague.co.uk/where_to_play/session_finder, select "London & South East", scroll down to Milton Keynes "Turn up & Play", and click "Book Now".

We still need extra referees for the sessions, so if you fancy earning some money while keeping fit at Touch Rugby, sign up to be a referee at www.playtouchrugbyleague.co.uk/referee

And if you don't fancy playing or refereeing, but still want to play a part, we're always after volunteers to help run the sessions and help with admin - email MiltonKeynesRL@gmail.com
