AFC Monton Veterans travelled to the Armitage Sports Centre for this Cheshire Veterans League First Division fixture and returned home with a creditable share of the points after finding themselves two goals down with only thirty minutes left to play. The game opened brightly with Monton having the lions share of possession but not being able to trouble the Libero keeper and after nineteen minutes conceded the first goal to a powerful strike by the lively Libero winger as he broke through an attempted offside trap by the Ammies. Monton kept to their format but rarely managed to get behind a well drilled deep lying Libero defence and the score remained with them leading at half time.The second half unfortunately saw the hosts increase their lead after just two minutes with a far post finish to somewhat shock the Ammies but this provided the kick start they had been needing to play with more directness and determination and it paid dividends on the hour as Mark Platt scored with a forceful finish to reduce the hosts lead. Monton were more in control now and Mark Platt found the equaliser ten minutes later witha quality headed finish following a perfect Aaron Swift free kick. Had the Ammies had a slice of good luck on the day they would have secured all three points as they continually pressed to find the elusive winning goal but had to settle for a share of the points following a totally committed show of determination and belief in each other.
