Yesterday, Roselea continued their pre season build up with a game at Gill Park against Bervie Caley.
Starting for Roselea were Rio Bradford and Aulay Martin who were both involved in the Montrose FC midweek draw against Motherwell.
The starting line up was Tweed, McDonald, Davidson, Masson, Watson, Bradford, Martin, Stewart, Smith, Duff and Calder. substitutes: Bailey, Griggs, Salmon, Simpson, Cook.
The game started in very hot conditions and both teams played some attractive football. In 9 minutes Riley Calder latched onto a through ball, rounded the keeper and slotted into the net to give Roselea the lead.
Just 4 minutes later, Morrison equalised with a great strike from the edge of the box. Bervie were on the ascendancy and it took a great save by Tweed to stop them going ahead. Bervie took the lead when Morrison headed in at the near post from a corner.
Next up was a Roselea equaliser when in 24 minutes, Euan Duff played a ball across goal for Aulay Martin to finish and make it 2-2. The goals continued with Evan Stewart for Lea and Wright for Bervie making it 3-3 and as half time approached, Aulay Martin scored his second to make the half time score Roselea 4 Bervie 3.
Roselea made substitutions at half time including Zac Simpson coming on in goal. It took only two minutes for Murray Smith to score from the edge of the box to make it 5-3. Both teams had opportunities and it was to Bervie who scored the final goal of the game making the final score ROSELEA 5 BERVIE 4.
This was a real goal feast for the spectators and a good test for Roselea with Gibson in particular causing a real threat with his pace. It was vital for Roselea to get a win after a midweek defeat and they did so with a good team effort, everyone fighting hard for each other. A good workout and thanks to Bervie and all the best for the season ahead. Next up is another friendly on Saturday 27 July against Merpro AFC. The game is being played at Links Park Stadium with a 1.30pm kick off.
