{George Bowen celebrates Dec Brereton's hat trick at Morley's last meeting with Old Brods on December 7, 2024}
Morley are back at Scatcherd Lane after their memorable victory away to Moortown two weeks ago when they scored 7 tries with Harry Jeffery and Charlie Frankland getting their first tries for the Maroons.
The last encounter with Old Brods was an equally significant victory with Declan Brereton collecting 3 tries, Theo Tyrer grabbing a brace and Nick Green starting the proceedings with a try after only 5 minutes. Noah Hawkings converted 4 of the tries to give a heart warming 38 - 19 victory on the formidable slopes at Woodhead, Halifax.
Morley have the luxury of being able to field the same players in positions 1 to 10, but make changes to the backs to accommodate the return of Declan Brereton at 13. Theo moves to the wing and Kai Taylor-Smith will appear for the Cavaliers despite his two try performance at Moortown. On the bench, Harry Ward and Ed Kelly make way for Robin Bennett and Brad Freeman.
Old Brods have had a couple of impressive victories over Scarborough and Wetherby in recent weeks. They are only two points behind Morley with 67 points and sit in 5th position, 2 places below Morley in the table. Neither team can overtake Rochdale at the top of the table with 70 points with only 2 games left to play. However, both teams will want to aim for second place and we can expect a competitive match at Scatcherd Lane.
