Vets Charity Bike Ride

Vets Charity Bike Ride

Jim Hawkins12 Jun 2023 - 11:35

Cycling the Leeds Liverpool Canal in aid of The Alzheimer's Society on 8th/9th July.

”Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever“
- Tour de France Winner

Hard to believe I know, however 7 grizzled Vets have committed themselves to cycling from Liverpool to Leeds along the canal tow path in order to raise funds for The Alzheimer's Society.

Karl Scarth,
Martin Heywood,
Nev Young,
Bren Higgins,
Charlie Smith,
Gary Pearson
and Jacques Banting

They have all foolishly decided to cycle the 128 miles over the weekend of 8th/9th July. Setting off from Liverpool on Saturday morning heading towards God's own County and expecting to finish Sunday afternoon.

In the support vehicles will be Joanthan Oram, Mark (Sess) Senior and Jim Hawkins, along for a jolly will be Dan Raine.

Training is going well, the route is planned to overnight in Burnley and finish at The Hop in Leeds.
Padded shorts, sudocrem and talcum powder are the order of the day, hopefully with plenty of power gels, sun cream and water.

What could go wrong!

If you would like to support them and their fund raising efforts, get in touch or make a donation to;
