The Maroons went into Saturday’s game knowing that victory over the division’s bottom side was crucial in putting some daylight between themselves and the wrong end of the table.
And the hosts started with great purpose, opening up a commanding 22-7 lead at the break thanks to a four try blitz from Karl Bradshaw. They could have had a greater lead but unfortunately Mark Chester was only able to add one conversion in the period.
The second-half was completely the other way round as Firwood Waterloo staged a comeback, mainly through their forwards, to score four tries themselves, but again their kicker let them down by only converting once. Inbetween their tries Morley managed to sneak one themselves through Kenny Sewell, which proved the difference at the end, and Morley edged out the winners 29-24.
