Welcome to the Spring 2016 rugby season. Next Sunday, January 17, 2016 we will hold our first preseason practice and before we officially get together we need to take care of a few things.
We will shortly be transitioning to TeamSnap to help improve communication: first up - No paper registration this year - all registrations will all be handled through Teamsnap.Register for the 2016 season HERE!
More details in the enclosed attachment
IMPORTANT: Before anyone can step on the field they need to be registered with Narberth Rugby which will also pass through to RugbyPA and USA Rugby for purposes of registration and most importantly, insurance. This need to be completed by noon on Saturday Jan. 16 in order to get on the field next Sunday!
Preseason Training - begins 1PM Sunday Jan. 17
This year our preseason training will be Sunday January 17 at the Radnor High School football stadium on the turf field. We will practice every Sunday through the end of February from 1PM to 3PM.
For practice, please dress appropriately, which includes a MOUTH GUARD for any rugby practice or match. Other than that, the coaches felt we could teach more rugby skills earlier if we were outside instead of in the gym, so we are trying this out this year. Please dress appropriately for the weather. We don't expect to see boys in shorts and t-shirts in January. Footwear for the turf field can be anything from molded cleats (no screw-in cleats, please!) to turf shoes. Running shoes probably don't have enough grip but in a pinch will do.
Important Dates to remember:
Tues. Jan 12, 7PM - Parent/player info night at Lower Merion HS.
Weds. Jan 13, 7PM - Parent/player info night at Radnor HS.
Sun. Jan 17, 1PM - Preseason practice starts (continues every Sunday through Feb.)
Sat. March 5, 7PM - Annual Beef & Beer Fundraiser, Narberth Hall
Sun. March 20 - First regular season match.
We will arrange for a couple of scrimmages for each team in the weeks preceding the 20th. Full schedules will be released shortly and will include a week off Sunday March 27 for Easter followed by matches every Sunday after that until State Champs. on May 22 if we do that well.
Regular season practices will be the same as prior years, Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. Firm times and location to follow shortly. We are planning to do March training at the Proving Grounds in Conshohocken until township fields become available later in the Spring.
