Another break from league action as Nettleham face Long Eaton in the FA Cup First Round Proper.
Both teams are going into the game off the back of league losses last Sunday. Nettleham narrowly lost out to league leaders, West Bromwich, after two stoppage time goals from the Baggies. The Netts were strong and confident against a team that aren’t used to having to put up a fight.
Long Eaton were also only one goal down in their game. The New Saints (TNS) also scored a last minute winner in their 4-3 victory. TNS have won four of their last five games. Nettleham beat TNS 4-1 the first week of this season. That week, West Brom beat Long Eaton 4-1.
Last time the teams met, Nettleham had a strong and dominant first half, taking the lead in the 37th minute. The second half was more evenly matched, goals for Long Eaton in the 71st and 86th minutes meant they took the last minute victory.
Both teams have won four games in the league and lost three but Nettleham have the edge on the table with goal difference. Based on the Netts’ form last Sunday, Long Eaton look very beatable.
